The big 24

It's been a really long time since I updated this blog, so since I have some extra time today I thought I should. Not much has been happening in the lives of the Millers... We've just been super busy with work and school. Last week we celebrated my 24th birthday (yeah... I'm getting OLD!) My parents took us out to The Chocolate for some cake and ice cream. Mmmmm. So good! Then, both Dan and my mom spoiled me and took me shopping for some new clothes. I haven't been shopping for SOOO long, so it was awesome!!

On a side note, yesterday I said to my mom, "I'm so glad it hasn't snowed yet this year." Literally ten minutes later, it started snowing. Seriously weather? Was that some kind of cruel joke??

Battle of the Bugs

Squash bugs. Have you ever heard of these evil little things? Well, I hadn't untill they DESTROYED OUR ZUCCHINI PLANT!! Losing that plant was like losing a child! We put so much love and effort into making it grow, and then right when it's about to produce fruit- BAM! The squash bugs strike! Before we knew it our plant was long gone. Those suckers reproduce like CRAZY! Seriously, our plant was covered before we could blink an eye. So, we had no choice. We had to strike back and finish things once and for all. Dan dug up the plant....

And took care of things.

So long, squash bugs. You may have won a battle, but we won the war!

Arizona

Last week, Dan and I drove to Phoenix for work. To sum things up, Arizona was FREAKISHLY HOT and we almost died of heat stroke a few times (and they were having a "cool" week) but we accomplished a lot and enjoyed our little adventure. The drive was our favorite part! It was beautiful and it's always fun to spend so much time together. Here are some pictures from our trip:

Somewhere near flagstaff...

Sedona had the best nachos EVER! So good!

Out for a date:It was so hot we had to stay inside out hotel room and entertain ourselves!

We pretty much loved Sedona! It was awesome!

Filling up out water bottles at a spring along the way. The best water I've ever tasted!

Abby girl

This has been an extrememly sad week. We lost our sweet Abby girl a few days ago, and our hearts are broken. My family adopted her when I was about 11, and she has been our baby girl ever since. She was never treated like a dog, she was a member of the family! We all loved her so much and she was pretty spoiled, but she absolutely deserved it because she was the best dog in the world!! She has the sweetest spirit, and no one could cheer you up like she could! We love her and will miss her so very much! The picture above is when she came to visit us in California. We took her to play at the dog beach and she was in heaven! You can see the smile on her face! Here are a few more pictures of her:

This is on the ride home from playing at the beach. She was beat!

Hangin out with her favorite pal:

Waiting patiently to open her stocking:

Finally getting to open up one of her presents (She LOVED opening presents! No matter whose birthday it was, we had to make sure to wrap Abby up a gift or she would get a bit jealous :)

Taking a nap on my moms shoes:

Isn't she adorable?

I'm so grateful for the time that we had to spend with her! She brought so much love and happiness into our lives.
We love you sweet baby girl and we will never forget you!

3 years and counting

Well, Dan and I just celebrated our 3 year anniversary. That's right. THREE YEARS! Can you believe it?? I can't! It's so crazy to me how fast the past three years have flown by. Our life together has been one whirlwind adventure after another, and it doesn't look like it'll be slowing down any time soon. But today I want to pause for a second and recap the past three years that have made up our lives together. This is more for my own enjoyment than anything else, so it might be long! Don't say I didn't warn you!

After almost exactly six months of dating, Dan and I tied the knot on March 9th, 2007. Although everyone else thought we were crazy for getting married so fast, those six months seemed like an eternity to us. It felt like we had been dating forever! We were so happy when that day finally came!

After the wedding we escaped the cold spent our honeymoon in Cancun. What a dream come true, it was paradise!

It was about this time that time stopped dragging and started going by reeeally fast. We finished the month we had left of the semester at SUU, packed up the few belongings that we had in a rental truck, and drove all night to start our new life in California.

Dan started his career selling commercial insurance, and I got my first full time and professional job at Bradshaw International. From 8 to 5 on weekdays we pretended to be real adults in the real world (which was such a foreign concept to me!) But we weren't ready to completely grow up yet. Our free time was filled with days at the beach, lounging by the beautiful pool at our apartment complex, competitive games of basketball and frisbee golf, and exploring everything there was to see in Southern California- Hollywood, Disneyland, Six Flags, San Diego, Lakers games, Shopping, Santa Barbara, Hiking, and camping on the beach. Here are a few pictures of the fun times we had:
We spent two years in California- gaining our independence, learning, growing, bonding, and enjoying the adventure that we had set out on together. The plan was to stay there forever, but that abruptly changed one day. Literally, in a matter of two weeks from first discussing moving back to Utah- we quit our jobs, packed up our things (which had grown a bit since the first time) in a slightly bigger rental truck than before and drove back to Utah.

The third year of our marriage back in Utah was an adventure very different but just as new and exciting as the first two years. We started to feel more and more like real adults. The year was filled with blood, sweat, and tears (literally). We put every spare second we could find as "sweat equity" into building our first home. Our days at the beach and nights out on the town were replaced by late night hours and hours spent working at starting and building our own business. We had more trials and triumphs this year than any other time in our marriage- and although it may not sound as fun as our beach bum days in California, I wouldn't trade it for the world! We have learned so much, and grown up more than ever before!

But even with all of the growing up we did this year, we're not quite ready to be allll grown up yet! ;)
Now we're starting our fourth year together... and I can't wait to find out what it has in store for us!! I have a feeling things will only become more and more of an adventure!

Thanks for the best three years of my life babe!

Poor Infiniti...

Yesterday was quite the traumatic day. Dan's new baby, the Infiniti, was involved in an accident on the freeway. Although she's still in a bit of shock and pain, we're happy to report that she's recovering. Fortunately, her morale has been kept up by the support and outreach from her friends in the community. We came home to find this word of encouragement on our garage after the incident:

Here she is right before she's headed off to the mechanic for some reconstructive surgery.
If you can't tell, she's very nervous.
Get well soon Infiniti, we're all rooting for you!

Holiday Fun

Christmas was so much fun this year. My mom made a fabulous dinner for us on Christmas eve, complete with a chocolate fountain and everything! It was delish! Then we all opened a few presents.
Here we are in our new pj's! And yes, my parents are definitely Trekkie's! (wow, spell check just verified that Trekkie is and actual word)

My favorite part about the holiday season is getting to see my family who live so far away. We always have so much fun together! I wish we could get together more often!!
It's finally 2010. Can you believe it? I know this is going to be a great year, Dan and I have a bunch of resolutions and goals that we plan on accomplishing to make this year even better than 2009! New years eve was fun, but it was definitely a struggle to stay up past midnight. Geez, we're getting old! This is the only picture I took... man, I need to start capturing the fun a little better with pictures! Maybe that should be another resolution.
Happy New Years!!!!
